We went on a bike tour of Copenhagen with Mike last week (late March). I am not a great cyclist and was a bit nervous, but I immediately felt safe in the care of Mike. He suited us up with bikes and helmets, explained how he does his tours - regular stops at key areas where he tells interesting and entertaining anecdotes about the city - and off we went. Copenhagen is made for cyclists, so we had absolutely no trouble with traffic or hills (there aren't any). Mike is a huge asset to the city of Copenhagen - he has a phenomenal knowledge of its history and deep devotion to its story. Throughout the day, Mike showed us parts of the city we simply wouldn't have seen any way else. By the time we got to the end, we'd learned a huge amount, had a spectacular day out, and made a friend in Mike. I can't recommend his tours more highly. Alexandra Hammond, London

The Story behind Bike Copenhagen with Mike

The story is simple: I have a strong passion for bicycling, I love my home town Copenhagen, I like meeting new people from all corners of our world, my own travel experiences tells me that the most rewarding way to explore a new place is by bike and here I am: Sharing my passion for bicycling, Copenhagen and new people together with you on my bike tours
along the trails of Copenhagen.

About myself:

I am a Copenhagener of birth and heart. Bicycling has been a big part of my life since I was a kid, now I have turned 55 years of age.

I have bicycled every street in Copenhagen,
most of Denmark - including right across the country
with my 2 1/2  year old son on the crossbar (back in 1989), and my bike has been on five continents including touring across North America, Australia, many parts of Europe including the Alps, from the north (Cape Reinga) to the very south (Tairoa Head) of New Zealand, along the Indian Ocean in South Africa and places in the Far East.

I have biked cities like London, Paris, Bordeaux, Munich, Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona, Dublin, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Vancouver, Auckland, Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, Singapore and Cape Town plus many more.

I reside in the Copenhagen inner-city suburb of Christianshavn together with my two women; Selenge, my fiance who originates from Ulan Bator, Mongolia and Biggles, my diva - a native New Zealand born sulphur crested cockatoo.

I have travelled the world extensively throughout my adult life including living twelve years in Auckland, New Zealand and two years in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. I am a member of The Travellers Guild of Denmark - www.berejst.dk

Until a few years ago I had a normal job, white collar boy allright, but normality and me didnt suit each other, I reckon. Biking, journeying and bike tour guiding is what my Lord made me for. During spring 2010 I went through a cancer journey to hell and back, I was lucky and in good hands of great medical staff here in Copenhagen. I learnt that in the battle with cancer every second counts.

I enjoy following politics, reading travel literature (armchair traveller) and history, cooking, I am a movie freak, love the ethnic music scene, football (soccer), the classic cycling races and saunas. Not to forget my life long following and addiction of the Tour de France. I am a long time supporter of the Italian football club Inter, the Danish side Brøndby and the New Zealand All Blacks rugby side. I am also engaged in voluntary social activities.
